I had to start this book over quiet a few times as an audio. My head couldn’t grasp that there were multiple stories within a story. The stories do all combine at the end which was almost predictable as you got to the middle and some obvious things had happen. But nevertheless this was a decent book.

This was an interesting and intense story. I’m still a little unsure about the writing style. The characters were well developed and brought out. I really enjoyed reading the development between Sharon and Niki. It was great to see the changes in the end made so that Mia had a happy ending.

The story was well plotted and moved along at a great speed. Overall I enjoyed this story.

I am surprised that this book is rated so highly. It wasn't bad, but there were definitely things off. The writing style was like books for early middle schoolers, where every thought and expression is spelled out. There wasn't any prose or imagery, and the dialogue was also very childlike. All things considered, very little actually happened in this book.

This book was heartbreaking, anxiety-inducing and ultimately (mostly) fulfilling at the end. While something about (that I can’t quite put my finger on) missed the mark for me, it definitely was a page turner and I was glued to the end to find out what ultimately happens.

I think what was missing for me was Morgan’s story. The author spent a lot of time fleshing out people who ultimately would be kind of unnecessary to the plot line (ie. Amy, other than her initial introduction of Niki and Sharon, she really doesnt serve a real purpose to the plot line), when I’m still left wondering who was Morgan? Why did she run away and never return and who was she to Mia before she died? Was Mia even her real name?!

I feel like this book could have either been 25% shorter or filled that 25% with a sub-story line from Morgan’s perspective leading up to her death.

One big thing I did appreciate from this author was that she didnt go into unnecessary shock factor details of Mia’s abuse. It wasn’t needed to get the point across and I often feel like authors go overboard with the gory details.

It’s a decent weekend read.
