I think I read a different book to those that rated it 5 stars.

Boring, predictable, flat writing and I found the story was mainly description rather than action and dialogue.

The relationship between Sharon and Niki was completely unbelievable.

I finished it, against my better judgement, because I kept hoping it would get better.

I can’t imagine having to keep a secret from the whole world. Knowing your mom kidnapped a toddler and having to hide it since a young age can really mess with a kid. Jacob had so much weight on his shoulders for a kid his age. But the love he had for Mia, is undeniable.
This book had me so confused with the 2 different timelines. But when it all came together, it was good!
I really enjoyed reading how Sharon came out of her shell as a mom. How her relationship with Niki grew, which was exactly what they both needed. How Niki learned to stand up for herself and help Jacob over come his fear of his mom and gain confidence. I liked his mom, Suzzette’s confidence but she was a total bitch haha. The way she looked and talked down to everyone. Her heart was in the right place to take Mia, but not to keep a toddler as a personal slave! She was such a crazy mess and so self centered. Then Wendy, to lose her daughter, due to an argument that leads her to run away with her shady boyfriend only to find out she’d been gone for years. But finding out she has gained a granddaughter! It was sad and wonderful all at once. I highly recommend this book!

“Theres only one way to make it clear to everyone else around you. First of all, you should know that your competition is not the smartest girl in the room, not the prettiest in the room, and certainly not the tallest, richest, or strongest. Your competition is the one who is the most confident. Confident people get what they want, and men are drawn to confident women like cats to catnip”

Do as Suzzette says, be “The most confident girl in the room and now the most confident woman in every room”

I loved this book!

A great read from beginning to end. The pace was perfect. I'm excited to see what's next from this author.
adventurous dark emotional funny mysterious sad tense fast-paced

The Moonlight Child pulled me in I couldn't put it down until the story ended. I was invested from the moment Mia's character was introduced. Karen McQuestion always develops characters that are interesting and relatable. In this story we have an empty nester who takes in a young woman at the request of her daughter. The storyline was layered with mystery, tension, and characters working through their internal struggles. I definitely recommend this fast paced story.

good read

i was a little confused at the beginning, but i do wish morgan’s family played a bigger part in the story.

this book was put on the back burner bc i had so many library books come in that i had to finish… BUT when i picked it back up i had remembered what i was going on which is a point for the book. i felt like a lot of the plot and characters were just too “perfect” and there was one true “villian” and i like a few morally gray moments. good concept for a book though and another bonus point for one character wanting to be a social worker

This was a good page turner.

2.5 stars. Kinda boring, I had heard it was a thriller but meh nothing very interesting was going on. Glad I listened to it, I don't think I would have finished if I had read it.

A quick read and I liked it even though it was predictable. The one thing I found unbelievable was how well-adjusted Niki was immediately after going to live with Sharon. Highly unlikely, and their immediate closeness was improbable at best. That kind of connection would take a long time to develop. Anyhow, an enjoyable read.
