First up was the novella that turned out to be my fav. Speed Mating by Jessica Sims (but then I do love Jill Myles' work :)
The story was sexy, fun and worked so well just as a novella. But I of course want more by Jessica Sims now.

Conjuring Max was the story I did not really care for. It had it's moments, but it felt like it would have worked better as a book. I felt a bit confused at times.

The last story was a story of the Iron Seas, I miss that series now, even if nothing compared to book 1. Even if this novella was good, I also felt here that it would have worked better as a book. But then I am not a fan of novellas in the end.

What did I learn. I need to read Jessica Sims and I miss the Iron seas series. I mean stuff is happening, more please.

Speed Mating - I don't read many shifter books (why is that I wonder?) so this was a fun diversion. I liked the dancing around Estrella and Vic did, each trying to avoid the obvious! Vic is a sexy, growly alpha tiger, yum!

Conjuring Max - I liked Carolyn Crane's first Code of Shadows novel, Mr. Real and this is the story of Alix's aunt Veronica who invented the witchcraft combined with technology that conjures items from pictures into real life. Max and Veronica's story had an ephemeral quality and I was pretty tense at the end wondering if their story would be happy or bittersweet.

Wrecked - Meljean Brook's Iron Seas novels and novellas can do no wrong in my book. This was an exciting adventure with snowstorms, airship balloon crashes and ravenous zombies; I loved Caius and Elizabeth's story. The loving is so sweet as the two work through their childhood bitterness to discover their true feelings for each other.

This is three shorts but I only read Meljean Brook's Wrecked. As usual I wasn't disappointed. Good characters, good story. Everything I expect from this series.

4.5*

Stories varied from 4*-5*--but all worth reading.

Fantastic set of stories! I hadn't read any of the previous books in these series except for The Iron Seas series by Meljean Brook. I loved all the stories and didn't feel I was missing out even without the background. I especially loved the Meljean Brook story (5*) and the one by Carolyn Crane (5*).
