KRISTIN THIS WAS INCREDIBLE. There are so few books that truly capture my heart like this. It was magical to see how the characters grow together and find purpose and love. It was inspiring to see how Alice grows into herself despite the most traumatic childhood. And it was powerful to see how the media can destroy lives while never taking any blame. To top it all off, the author's storytelling is so incredibly impactful, saying so much with so few words. The descriptions are so beautiful. I've literally never highlighted so many passages in a book, ever. She is masterful at her craft, and I'm so inspired to write now. I saw a lot of weird criticisms of this book, but I strongly believe she was very sensitive to the traumas, medical conditions, and legal systems mentioned. She captures the complexity of life remarkably well, and this was a perfect book.
