I've actually read this before, many years ago, but that didn't detract from the story, especially as the "twist" wouldn't come as a surprise to any regular reader of this genre.
Barclay is always great at creating tension and believable characters and this was no different.
A young woman who shouldn't have a baby suddenly has a baby, a woman is found murdered, her husband was in the city at the time. What happened, who is the baby?
A great read and an author I always enjoy

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love how it was written. Nothing like a cliffhanger to keep you wanting more.

Mr. Barclay is one of the most talented novelists working in this genre.

I don't know what compelled me to add this to my to-read list, probably some top-10 click bait list. The plot was quite the opposite of a mystery, and anything but thrilling. Yes it was a page turner, but mostly because I just wanted to be done with the book.

The beginning of the series that gets you all set up and gets you hooked. Don't worry, you won't reget it.

I really enjoyed this book and already bought the next book in the trilogy. It's not high art but it was fun and the author did a great job of making me want to keep reading.
