What a cozy little book. The type of book to transport you from a rainy dreary day into sunny meadow full of butterflies and clouds. (Yes it's raining right now)

This book really sped up towards the end and I found myself really immersed in the Marchs 19th century life. This included me continuously referring to everything as CAPITAL! This book was truly some capital stuff.

I really was pleasantly surprised to see this book differ from the movie. Yes... don't come after me, I did watch the movie first!

I really related with Jo, Meg and Amy. Jo's sense of rebellion and ball of energy felt like home. Meg's older sister vibes and naivity to the world of love was relatable. Shout out to all my older siblings! And Amy, sweet Amy, really truelly just wanted to give Amy a big hug.

Ok hear me out. I didn't have a strong connection with Beth. I feel as if she had the least character development and was just perceived as a quiet, perfect, humble child. I appreciate all these qualities in her but I really wish we got to explore her character more. LIKE EVEN HANNAH SPOKE MORE THAN BETH. . COME ON... Tell me some of your flaws Beth, TELL ME!!!

I am truly glad Beth got better in the end. However was expecting the alternate reality as portrayed in the movie. Someone, please explain to me why the movie was so different!?

All in all this book was delightful and would recommend it to anyone craving a homely feeling.

Truly a pleasant read but the ending was too abrupt. So all in all, I give this book a 3.75/5. ⭐️

Like everyone else, I love the 2019 movie adaptation of Little Women. It's such a wonderful tale of family love and childhood. I can't say I love the book the same, but it was still enjoyable. It's very outdated and preachy, but I have an unending amount of love for the March sisters. <3

this book is a classic. simple, pure, joy. although it took me quite a few weeks to finish it, it was a refreshing break from the action packed, fast-paced novels. this book doesn’t have any of that over the top drama that’s typically found in other classic novels.

i love the contrast between each of the sisters, meg the eldest sibling who has a very motherly nature and is the most sensible and responsible out of the lot.

jo is the tom boy, she is different from the other girls her age and doesn’t really mind how people see her she just wants herself and her loved ones to be happy (this is how we should be). although she does have a bit of a temper which results in a number of conflicts.

beth is the sweetest girl, she is very caring and timid. beth hates seeing her loved ones sad and will do anything to cheer them up.

amy is the youngest of the bunch, she acts sophisticated and wants to marry rich. a lot of the time she attempts to sound posh but ends up saying the word wrong.

all of these sisters are incredibly talented in different ways and it was a joy seeing them grow up in this novel, i would recommend this to anyone who doesn’t mind a slow-paced easy going, warm and fuzzy family story.

The story was difficult to get into and focus on at times, especially in the beginning. It’s a very slow, descriptive story with long chapters that mainly discuss the girls’ day to day lives. The pacing was all over the place. The morals and preachy lessons every chapter were  exhausting. I would skim at times when I got really bored especially with Meg’s chapters; I just was not vibing with the writing style at all.

Part 2 (which is technically Good Wives and not Little Women) is so much better! It’s the only reason I didn’t DNF and why I gave it 3.5 stars. The only thing that kept it from 4 or more stars was part 1 and Jo’s ending.

I suppose I understand why it’s a classic but for me it doesn’t come anywhere close to the likes of Austen, Eliot, or the Brontë sisters. Very rare instance where the movie is better than the book. I was a little disappointed to discover some of my favorite quotes from the Gerwig movie aren’t in the book at all. Although Alcott did have some good prose at times! Kind of glad I read it if only to say that I did and cross it off my classics TBR.
