While I enjoyed this audiobook, it wasn't one of my favorites in the series. I got better toward the end.

Mitch and Laurel had an abundance of communication issues. As much as Kai tried, Mitch was hanging on to his childhood problems for dear life. But then, I had to take into account Mitch was keeping secrets.

Laurel was manipulating situations left and right. It wasn't in a terrible way, and it was done with Mitch's best interests at heart. Or Laurel believed that is why she was doing it.

There was the element of danger and suspense. I felt like this book was missing some of the humor. Mitch and Laurel's relationship seemed to me to be a tad toxic at times. Hurtful things were said, there was a lack of trust, and a sense of desperation that felt a bit too intense to me sometime.

Secrets came to light. Rifts were repaired and healed, new people were introduced, and it did end with an HEA. As usual, the narration was on point.

This was really cute.

Adored is, I have no idea what book within the 1001 Dark Nights Series, a story about Mitch and Laurel. They were honestly pretty cute and I couldn't help shipping them from the first moment we met. Plus, anytime I get a teeny tiny forbidden relationship I'm hooked. Still don't see the big deal about a best friend dating a younger sibling.. but hey - it was good.

Yes, they were cute; However, I just wanted more. Probably would've loved this if it was a full book and not just a little novella. You win some and you lose some and I will most definitely continue on with this series.

Ms. Blake can do no wrong with her books. Even her novellas are fantastic and I’m not a fan of novellas. Off to Ten’s book. I’m so excited.

The Masters and Mercenaries series by Lexi Blake is one of my favorite and I was excited to be able to participate in this review tour. Although Adored is only a novella, it read like a complete story, and because the characters had been introduced in previous books, I neither felt that I was missing out on part of the story line or that the story itself was rushed.

I really liked Mitch's character in Adored. In fact, I felt that I empathized more with him than with Laurel, the heroine. While I did feel that he didn't give Laurel enough credit for being a different woman from his exes, and, in the beginning, he wasn't even willing to try to have a "real" relationship with Laurel, I could completely understand, from his past experiences, why he was so gun shy. This flaw in his character was one of the reasons I kept reading Adored - I wanted to see what would happen with Mitch and Laurel. Obviously, I knew there would most likely be a HEA, but I was rooting for the two to be able to overcome their insecurities without too much struggle.

My one complaint about Adored is that there was so much going on in the story, considering it was a novella. I don't want to give out any spoilers, but there were two subplots besides the relationship aspect and I was concerned the ending would be too rushed, or that the the subplots would become confusing and not end satisfactorily. However, in the end, this didn't happen and I thought Lexi Blake did a good job of tying up all the loose ends and giving her characters a happy ending.

Learning you are worth being loved!

For me, what makes this story so great is the transformation of Mitch as he learns that he can find love again and he is worthy of the love!! Laurel is perfect for Mitch - she challenges him in a way that no one else ever will. And seeing them fall in love is truly beautiful.

Hero was an idiot and pushed the heroine away, I know it was a novella but the issues in their relationship was wrapped up way too quick. Wasn't a big fan of this but will try the rest of the series!
