Not once do finding a better balance between Brother's schoolwork and extracurricular activities or Brother scaling back on the sports he participates in enter the discussion as possible solutions to remedying his poor grades. At the end of the book, Brother earning a couple of improved marks as a result of the entire family pitching in to help suggest that the problem is completely solved, which is not a feasible long-term solution in the real world.
