please please please forget everything i said in there. im not gonna delete this because i have to learn from my mistakes and be ashamed of them. the only thing im gonna modify is the rating cause this woman cant keep winning.
this was one of my first reads after a 2 year slump so the bar was on the fucking floor for me and 3 stars was a "bad" rating for me so i gave it 4,5... dont be dumb like me and don't do arson, kids!

-------------

so, on november 5 i was looking for a book to read after i finished "the flatshare" and then i discovered that colleen hoover had this book called november 9. i thought it would be a good idea to try to finish the book the same exact day. and i did it! this is the first book im reading by colleen hoover but i absolutely loved it. its also my first time reading an instant love trope so ngl, i was scared of all the cuteness in the beginning 😭 maybe this book doesn't make you cry but i am sure it's gonna hurt. the author knew how to play with your feelings and stab you in the back lmao
i also knew there was going to be a plot twist and that the 4th november is heartbreaking. but my dumbass thought that the plot twist was
ben and jordyn parenting oliver as a couple
so i wasnt surprised because i was expecting it. BUT I SHOULD HAVE NEVER UNDERESTIMATED COLLEEN cause when i realized that
ben was the one who caused the fire
I LITERALLY DROPPED MY JAW AND I HAD TO IMPULSIVELY SIT ON MY BED (i was laying cause it was 2am lol) AND STARE AT THE VOID FOR A WHILE

but yeah as i said its actually such a cute book and if you're a hopeless romantic you're gonna love it. i personally have looooots of underlined pink quotes (i even have pages filled w pink lmfao)

BIG RAMBLING AND SCREAMING AHEAD

If you know this book at all, you know that it's about Ben and Fallon, who meet on the same day every year for 5 years while Ben writes a book about it. I wasn't prepared for it to be way more than that.

For that reason...

I'm gonna start off by calling out @colleenhoover directly and letting her know that i'm going to need some $$ for upcoming therapy bills because so far everything that i've read from her has made me feel literally insane and feral.

I loved this book and I hated this book. These characters are both dumb clowns. I love them, but they are, in fact, dumb clowns and they made me want to scream so much of the time. I'm not saying this is a bad thing or a good thing, it's just a thing. I tend to think that if a book can elicit some sort of strong reaction from me, then it's good. So, I suppose I'm counting it as a good thing.

In order for Ben to not immediately start giving me serial killer vibes, I had to picture him as Avan Jogia because *swoon* - anyway though, if you read the book, you know why this ultimately did not work out for me, and why I, in the end, wore the clown nose and shoes.

I thought that the writing was good and engaging; it had dual POVs which I always love. I sometimes feel like something is missing if there isn't a dual POV. I did think that sometimes the language was a little corny for me, but then when I sat back and assessed each character a little more: they are very, very corny people at heart. It is simply a part of the characterization, so I was no longer holding that against them.

So much of this book - particularly the second half, had me crying my eyes out. I was sitting out on the balcony of my apartment openly weeping for Ben and Fallon. Having said this, I do have some critiques of their relationship overall, which I've just discussed with a friend over DM. I won't get into specifics here, but there is toxicity there and some things that personally, if it were me, I'd be outta there. However, that didn't affect my overall enjoyment of the book. If you follow me closely, you know that I sort of love messy dynamics and complicated relationships and even toxic, horrible ones. However, if these things trigger you, I would advise maybe skipping this one.

Colleen, if you are reading this for some reason - first of all, why are you reading this???? and second of all - please know I love your books very much and that my excruciating pain is merely an indication of just how much I love them. Thank you.

Here, Colleen, take my heart. Do what you will with it because you pretty much stole it and have been toying with it with every book!
Yet again the romance in this story is swoon-worthy, knee-buckling, soul-crushing and ugly cry inducing. The writing grabs you by the heart, nails it to the page and plays with your emotions.
What's best about this book? The way it kind of makes fun of all the clichés in romantic stories and romance books and then goes and makes them all happen... On purpose!!
There was only one tiny thing I didn't quite like but I guess it worked out in adding to the cliché part, and that was the way Fallon and Ben meet. I mean, I get the appeal of a handsome guy coming to our rescue on an needed situation, but I think things escalated way too fast from there. I guess insta-love isn't really my thing.
Other than that the premise of the story is fantastic, it is romantic and funny and curious and so well thought!
The chemistry between Fallon and Ben is undeniable and makes us wish and dream for that kind of connection, even instantly!
And the tattoo part at the end?
Yeah, I ugly cried to that one. Hard. Not even sorry.
