Rossi posits that each time we ignore our body's singals that it's time for a break (every 90-120 minutes or so), we further deplete our body's resources. This depletion, over time and without breaks to restore ourselves on the cellular level, is what causes stress and further on down the road, disease.

Despite the ridiculous and eye-roll-a-rific language, Rossi has proved, yet again, that we need to take breaks from work. Each body moves, individually and on it's own time frame, through periods of peak performance and periods of rest. With the modern work day and other stressors, we push through the periods of rest which tax the body and mind. While none of this was new information, I appreciated Rossi's interest in finding a new way to communicate that we need to listen to our bodies. Disconnection from our bodies only hurts us in the long run.

Where he loses me is, again, with the "science". There's a ton of studies quoted, but no citations. There's a fairly extensive bibliography, but I want to find the published results of these oft-referenced studies. Call me crazy, but I think to confirm this stuff for myself.

What I liked best was when he put the concept of "ultradian rhythms" (cycles that happen multiple times in a day) in the context of daily, monthly, yearly and season patterns. That was the biggest lightbulb moment and where i felt I had the most amount of information that I could take away and share with other people.

In the end, though, this is another book for the Science Light category: interesting, but maybe a little too new to fully earn my belief.
