Ta książka jest genialna! Fantastyka połączona z motywem katastroficznym to coś co uwielbiam! Jest wciągająca na tyle, że nie chciałam się od niej odrywać nawet na chwilę. Miejscami wzruszająca, mega zabawna i niesamowicie inteligenta. Na pewno ma jakieś nieścisłości i błędy naukowe ale mnie to nie obchodzi XD Dalej jest genialna :D

I would have given it a higher rating, but the middle was slow.  I understand why (no spoilers), so it might be my impatience!

I really wanted to like this more, especially since I liked Project Hail Mary so much.

I found this one too heavy on the science without the balance of the characterisation and plot enrichment. The chopping and changing between perspective styles - the logs, the third person with characters, then the more omnipotent third person elements - was a bit too haphazard too, and I frankly found the characters pretty unlikeable. Mark especially: he’s kind of a dick, not nearly as funny as all the characters in the book we’re trying to tell me he was, and a bit of a racist and misogynist.

I really would have appreciated - and felt it made sense for - an exploration of the psychological impact of being stuck in a planet by yourself too, but this was kind of just… not really touched on? Or only really mentioned. Missed opportunity.

Basically, I’m glad I read PHM first because if I’d read them the other way around I don’t think I would have read another Andy Weir book at all. A shame.

Smart, sarcastic, and surprisingly fun for a survival story on Mars. Mark Watney’s voice carries the whole book science heavy but never boring. Some parts dragged, but the humor and tension made it a blast overall. Science nerds, this one’s for you.

Easily the best book I've read all year.

I LOVED THIS! All of the technicalities were so well explored and explained I was so hooked. Kind of a thriller honestly. Didn’t want to put it down. Side note I did read the classroom version and it was squeaky clean- not sure how the regular version is different. SO GOOD
