This absolutely lived up to the hype!  

Liked: 

• I was so invested in this and it was hard to put down. The problem-solving was much more interesting than it had any business of being.
• Watney was so likable. His logs were my favorite part of the movie and might have been even better in the book.
• This was much funnier than I expected.
• I loved that the whole world came together to save Watney.
  
  

Didn't Like: 

• The plot got a little repetitive.
• I know there was no other way to describe what was going on, but having a few moments of third-person POV on Mars was weird.

A humorous action novel. Great page-turner full of juicy science. The punchy, first-person log format makes the protagonist sound cocky, but it's pretty well deserved, given all of the puzzles he works out. It helps to think of Matt Damon's voice. Don't expect any big insights into humanity, though.
