Al Carraway has such a genuine and loving voice. She gives the reader many uplifting quotes and scriptures that are sure to keep the reader coming back to flip through the book to find on dark days. I thought this book was going to be more of an autobiography and I wish Al had shared more personal stories about her life and not so many quotes. Some of her themes and stories were very repetitive, but the main thing you’ll go away with in this book is that God can change us and make us better and that he loves us, which I think was Al’s goal in creating this book. Thanks for an uplifting read, but give me all the gritty details!

I really enjoyed listening to Al's conversion story, and I feel strengthened by her testimony.

Lots of good nuggets! The second half had good bones, but was a little redundant. I enjoyed reading it.

I'm really torn about this book. I liked hearing about her conversion story. It reminded me of my own conversion, not in the details of her life but in the feelings she felt when discovering the Gospel, and it reminded me of feelings I had when I first joined the Church, some of which I had forgotten I even felt. But the writing was so choppy and childish I could barely read it. The second half of the book especially, I'll admit I mostly skimmed because it got SO repetitive. So overall I'll give it 3 stars, because I enjoyed the message but the writing was unbearable.

I'm a sucker for conversion stories and just loved this one. I loved her insight and teaching she gave on the gospel that really made me think. I only wish there was more of her story, have lots of questions!

Definitely one of the best books I have read in a while. I love the way Al Carraway weaves together personal experiences with scripture. Even though my life experiences have been different, I feel like I can easily relate and apply the insights I gained from her stories into my life.

Fantastic! I love her spunk and zest for life and the gospel. It helps me realize how truly incredibly the gospel is and how much my Heavenly Father loves me. I “read” this as an audiobook and I would argue that this is the best way to do it.

Her conversion story was interesting, and it’s fascinating to read a story written from a not so typical Mormon, but overall it just wasn’t super well written and hard to get through. I know she’s a good speaker because I’ve seen her in some videos, but I just didn’t feel that same emotion come across in her writing.

I've never read a book where I felt like the author was such a close friend of mine... Until now! Al loves her readers and the gospel, that is for sure! She was honest and real throughout the book. I was thankful for that.

She's not the best writer, which she is the first to admit, but her voice is real and the doctrine is pure. I think this book is wonderful for anyone who has felt different or judged—which is probably all of us!
