This is an enjoyable relatively well paced thriller that alternates between the views of Will Trent, a dyslexic special agent, and Faith Mitchell, a local detective whose has quite the grudge against Trent, as they try and work together to solve a brutal murder and kidnapping. The story is easy to follow but still twists and turns enough to keep you interested throughout. The interplay between Trent and Mitchell is an added twist that is enjoyable at first but does become a little too much by the end as does the slight attitude that Trent has about his dyslexia. Having said that though it is a good read, you just have to set aside these little annoyances.

I really enjoy the stories that [a:Karin Slaughter|12504|Karin Slaughter|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1565730670p2/12504.jpg] tells and the way that she tells them. I started reading her works with the more recent books like [b:The Good Daughter|33230889|The Good Daughter (Good Daughter, #1)|Karin Slaughter|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1502131816l/33230889._SY75_.jpg|53941188]. I found them such enjoyable reads that I sought out her earlier works, and here we are. I have not regretted that choice since. When I want a reliably exciting read, I pick Ms. Slaughter. It will be disturbing, I will be on the edge of my seat and scared for someone, but I'll really enjoy it.

I'm invested in the characters and the worlds that she creates are fully fleshed. Can't wait to keep reading this series.

I  struggled with this book. I usually love Karin Slaughter's books. This wasn't it for me.
