I really didn’t like this book, I couldn’t attach myself to the characters, I hated Sofia and I thought that Danilo was bland and didn’t have any depth.
I also couldn’t get past the fact that we talked more about Serafina than themselves in this book like get over it.

I was definitely waiting for this book. I did come across many reviews. I tried to avoid them but they only made me afraid of what I was about to read. But, in the end I made my own final review. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. This is my genuine opinion. As a stand-alone, I truly enjoyed it. Of course, my only concern was with the constant reminder of Serafina and Remo. On one hand, Sofia was obsessed with comparing herself to Fina. And then we had Danilo wanting to destroy Remo. So, yes that did get repetitive.

However, I am content with Danilo’s character development. I remember despising him when he went crazy after finding out about Fina. I was scared and concerned about how he would treat Sofia. But in the end, we learn he never truly cared about Fina. He just wanted the status and respect.

There were some scenes that may have been taken out of context by other readers. Fair warning this contains spoilers. The scene in the woods. Sofia put herself in a situation that ultimately cost her, her trust for Danilo. Although verbal consent was given, Sofia didn’t understand the consequences that would come from giving herself to Danilo under the circumstances that she presented herself to him. I loved how Danilo reacted and how he was respectful towards Sofia’s reaction and confusion. He never left her or gave up on her. I understand the change in Sofia. Who wouldn’t react the way she did? She was young and innocent. Danilo made sure to be kind towards her. This was the turning point for him. It was also the awakening Sofia needed.

Danilo was the most surprising character to me in this book. Sofia definitely struggled the most when it came to comparing herself to Serafina. She was stuck on trying to be her instead of realizing that she is perfect just the way she is. Sofia in some ways reminded me of Gemma. Btw full disclosure: I hate Savio. The worst character.

Anyways, Sofia definitely needed better character development. Even after Danilo gave her his heart she still doubted herself and his intentions with her. I wish she had snapped out of this obsession to be Fina earlier in the book and worked on being the best version of herself. Danilo cared and was willing to respect his wife no matter what. So I believe, he would have fallen for her either way. He is not as cold hearted as I pegged him to be.

Overall, I loved this book for the reason that it didn’t focus as much on the mafia aspect that we are so used to. It focused on the romantic and real life problems of a relationship forced into marriage. The only downfall was the on going reminder that Remo took Fina. Even Danilo was tired of hearing Sofia bring it up lmao

Sofia is no constellation prize, she's a queen in her own right. I often wondered what was going through Sofia's during the Serafina situation and Cora delivered with this book. No longer was Sofia a background character, she took the card she was dealt and thrived. Plus finding out she was crushing on Danilo from the beginning was just the right plot twist. Anna and Leonas had me laughing through out, and I'm looking forward to both of their books. After all the dark themes this family experienced, it was nice to have some good humor and laughs.

Sofia wanted her arranged marriage to work, but still wasn't sure how her relationship with Danilo would play out. He obviously didn't want to marry Sofia. This book surprised me, especially Danilo, he was far from the person I painted him to me in the other books he appeared it. He didn't love Serafina, his anger towards the broken engagement was simply because he wasn't getting his way, his ego and pride was bruised by Remo. His engagement to Fina was a power move for him. But Sofia definitely arose to the challenge. Not allowing Danilo to ignore her. In the beginning she believed she needs to change, to become more like Fina, but eventually she realized she needed to be herself to win over Danilo's heart. Their spicy scenes were something else, I clenched my pearls many times. Mr. Ice man was a undercover freak and I was here for it every step of the way. I found myself rooting for this couple more than I did for the others, because my heart ached for Sofia, understanding what it's like to be the bridesmaid but never the bride. Now Sofia is front and center, and not taking no for an answer. And most importantly I'm happy she got to make her peace regarding Fina. Their brief reunion pulled at the heart strings, especially when Danilo showed and brought Sofia back to reality.

Danilo is that man that cannot take a rejection. For saying no to him, he would look to get revenge for the rest of his life.
Even from the beginning, he wanted Serafina because of her position, status- she was the most wanted and she was also Dante’s niece: “Long before I'd met her, her name had been whispered reverently among the boys and even the men in our circles. The regal ice princess's beauty featured in many fantasies. Like magpies drawn in by a shiny object, many wanted to possess her. When she'd been promised to me at the age of fifteen, I'd revelled in the admiration and jealousy of my fellow Made Men. I'd won the sought-after prize and could call her mine.” / “Serafina hadn’t been that much older when she’d been promised to me, but we were close in age. I’d wanted her even back then because she was the ice princess, because she was so beautiful that everyone wanted her.” / “Danilo wanted Fina for her status and image, nothing else.” / “My thoughts had revolved around Serafina, around what had been taken from me, what I’d lost.” / “I didn’t want Serafina, not the woman she’d turned out to be—maybe the girl I’d desired and longed to possess had never existed in the first place. She was a figment of my fantasies, something I’d construed to make my possession of her an even bigger triumph. I’d been young. I’d enjoyed the envy of other men who wanted her for themselves.” / “Serafina and my obsession with her had almost brought me to my knees.” / “I didn’t love her. I wanted to possess her. I didn’t know her, either.” / “I wanted her like a crow wants to possess a shiny piece of jewellery.”
After she returned to the Outfit, she refused to marry him. That angered him not only because he was refused but because it also messed his life plans. “I didn’t want to see Serafina again, especially not now that I knew she carried Remo Falcone’s child.”/ “Serafina glanced my way, and our eyes met. She smiled politely, then looked away, moving on with her gaze like she had done with her life. Like so often in the last few weeks, anger surged inside me.” / “My chest burned with anger and hatred so potent it threatened to make me implode. Remo. Serafina. Two names I never wanted to hear ever again.” / “From his last remarks, it seemed he hated her,” / “Do you really think I’m going to listen to you, Serafina? You are the enemy. Your words are worthless. If I negotiate with anyone, it’s with Remo, not his wife. But I have absolutely no intention of negotiating with either of you.” / “Sadness and fury had mixed with the dark emotions that had built over many months, and were now joined by newer, darker emotions, creating a potent mix that threatened to unravel me.”
This anger scaled into something bigger than an obsession. For 10 years, this man went around and angry- fucked every woman that looked like Serafina: “The door opened and a tall woman with long blonde hair stepped in. She was dressed in a white wrap dress matching the theme of the room. In my exhausted, half-drunk state, she looked like a bad replica of Serafina. Fuck Marco, the bastard. He could read me like an open book. Only her seductive smile and her sexy movements betrayed her true identity. Accepting her was admitting weakness; sending her back would send the same message. Either way, I was a fucking mess.” Hey, he dares to say “Problem was, I didn’t want to stop there. I wanted to make her mine as soon as possible, wanted to stake my claim. But unlike Remo Falcone, I had honour and a sliver of a conscience.” / “the next morning she'd sent me more articles, pieces that had obviously been taken down shortly after their publication, and all of them had pictures of Danilo with blonde girls.”/ “They were Serafina lookalikes.” / “I’d been fucking blonde girl after blonde girl for years, as if I could fuck her out of my system. It never worked. Any reprieve I felt was short-lived before my anger burned only brighter.” / “Danilo and his cousin Marco stood off to the side of the large wooden patio, talking to two girls. Naturally, Danilo was with a blonde—again. Always with blondes. Always with women who resembled Serafina but couldn’t hold a candle to her beauty. They were less, a copy of the original.” / “It was fucking embarrassing how you kept chasing those blonde girls like a little pussy who can’t get over being dumped.” / “I didn’t do those women because I felt more attracted to blondes. I did them because of my anger issues.”
He couldn’t handle the fact that a woman rejected him so came up with a lot of excuses by trying to portray Serafina as someone hungry for power: “Serafina had chosen a life at the side of a Capo, in the spotlight, with her children as successors to the Camorra throne. She’d just as quickly come running back to the Outfit once she realized that Remo Falcone wasn’t fit to be a father, that he didn’t share his throne. Women meant nothing to that madman.”
He pretended to not care for Serafina, yet he hope she would abort or give up on the babies.
“I swallowed my bitterness. Serafina had moved on, but no one in the Outfit would forget about the black-haired Falcone spawns any time soon, nor about the events that created them.” It’s been years….
Anger he felt towards Remo as well who made him feel very insecure- he was even triggered by his name “Danilo loomed over me, the anger slamming back into place, his breathing becoming louder. “Stop mentioning his name, Sofia.” / “I gritted my teeth. Remo could have been dead. The Camorra wouldn’t have been as strong without him. Instead, he paraded around in the west like a king.” / “My desire to get revenge on Remo Falcone. I can’t let it drop.”
He really thinks he is better: “It was one thing to be born on the wrong side and to not know any better like most Camorrista, but it was unforgivable to be raised in the Outfit and defect.” / “Remo destroyed more than one life.” / “Maybe Remo began the process of tearing down my innocent view on the world, but you finished the job five months ago. / Don’t compare me to that monster. I’m nothing like him.”/ “unlike your husband, I listen to reason. You and he aren’t worth risking the unity of the Outfit.” / “But unlike Remo Falcone, I had honour and a sliver of a conscience. What is with this superior complex that the Outfit men have? Where does it come from?
He went to a club to drink and fuck a girl, and then he went to Mione’s house. I find it disrespectful to go drunk to someone’s house, especially if is your ex or future fiancée’s.
He disrespected Sofia and ordered her around since she was a minor: “You look like a bad copy of your sister. Do you want people to badmouth your family again because of what happened?” / “His eyes narrowed. “You’re young. I might have frightened you yesterday, which is why I’m going to pretend that you didn’t act like a petulant, rude child just now, but I expect more from you.” He was pretty much aggressive towards her.
He was jealous that 16 years old Sofia was laughing at another man’s joke, and he sexualised her: “Sofia probably meant it in a very innocent way, but I couldn’t help but imagine all the ways I wanted to get to know her”/ “Of course, I wanted her body, but not before we’d said our vows.” So, vows matter, age doesn’t? What a thoughtful man.
He criticises Remo and Camorra for the way they treat women when in the Outfit are treated much worse and his attitude towards Serafina and Sofia is terrible. His behaviour is pretty much terrible towards anyone- he screamed, cursed his men and smashed a glass in front of his boss, women and children. He disrespected his superiors many times.
This man would accept an arranged marriage with an infant if that would give him any power, influence, would make him related to Dante.

His wife- Serafina’s sister- Sofia is not the best character either. Their entire marriage was based on Serafina and Remo. Even on their wedding night, Sofia kept mentioning them: “Won’t you claim me before someone else can? I thought Serafina’s kidnapping taught you a lesson,” / “Just because I’m married doesn’t mean someone else won’t claim me. Don’t you want to mark me as yours?” / “Remo didn’t hesitate and look what he got.” / “Remo took what he wanted, and he got everything. He laughed in your face, and you let him,” I bit out.” / “Remo will always win because he takes what he wants without regard for anyone. He took Fina. Her heart. Her virginity. He took everything.”/ “Just do your duty and fuck your wife. I bet that’s what Remo’s doing now.” / “Just do it. Fuck me like Remo fucked Fina.”
She is extremely insecure and embarrassing.
She knows Serafina is innocent and the victim in this situation, yet she blames her. She knows the reason why she left, yet she deviates - “It’s not her fault. And yet somehow, I couldn't stop feeling that it was. If she hadn't run away with the enemy, our parents and Samuel wouldn't be as heartbroken. But if she were still here, Danilo would have an even harder time getting over her. It was a paradox.” / “I considered talking about my troubles with Danilo with her, but then I couldn't bring myself to do it. After all, she was the root of the problem, even if she didn't mean to be.”
It is so funny to me how the women are just like their men. Always criticising others- “Falcone had no qualms when it came to kidnapping”. Why are they always acting like they weren’t born in the mafia? Why are they acting like their men didn’t kidnap and tortured a 15 year old boy?
She expects her family to stop grieving Serafina and start putting her on a pedestal. She tried too hard to replace Serafina- she even died the hair in the same color.
Her loving Nevio and Greta is the only good thing you can say about her.

I thought nothing could be worse than Savio's book but this one proved me wrong.
The only good thing is Anna's character( I'm so excited about her book hopefully we'll finally get a strong-willed and clever female character)
Half the book is Twisted Pride's events again and again amd it's boring and bothersome this time
Both Danilo and Sofia are so annoying and stupid and that scene at his birthday party is total nonsense
Fragile Longing is so unessary especially when people are eager for Adamo's book.

My opinion: I read this book because both Sofia and Danilo play a notable role in Twisted Pride and I wanted to see how they handled Sofia becoming Danilo's fiance after her sister, Serafina was kidnapped by and fell in love with their enemy. My biggest issue is that the majority of this book takes play while Sofia is underage and while Danilo does a good job of seeing her as a child, they do have a sexual encounter because he doesn't know it's her. For me, it was awkward, not just because she was 17 and he was 27, but also because he continually has been sleeping with clones of Serafina. I don't think the excuse that he was so angry that he had to screw blondes makes sense and I also don't think Sofia is a strong enough character to handle that situation. I would have liked to see her to knee him in the balls or slap him across the face or something after some of the comments he made. I also would have preferred if the book started when she was 18 and we saw their entire relationship develop while she was actually an adult.

After some point I just did not care.
Remo showing up for one second AND LITERALLY ONE SECOND was more exciting than the whole book. Tho i have to say i was sick of everyone mentioning Seraphina and flashbacking to the ALREADY MULTIPLE TIMES FLASHBACKED SCENES IN THE OTHER BOOKS!
