This was such a beautiful start, the nostalgia, the way it perfectly captures being a kid and forming a dream centered around romance and stood by it as a teen (though I haven’t seen any story like this in a guy’s pov).
But the way other kids suspected what Arima’s gender is heartbreaking. It wasn’t theirs to declare. But then again, how are the kids going to learn?
I was crying by the time he Arima had to pull down his pants to give proof that he is a guy just to stop someone from doubting what he is and what he identifies as. It must be so hard.
It must be so heartbreaking to want love and to receive it with a chain of expectation that you must be a gender you don’t identify as but still keep the thought because it’s the only way you receive love.

I love the conversation between the boys. How they open up to each other, how they urge Taiga to take accountability for what he did, they recognize it was bad (although i do think they also need to switch uo their views cos they thought the same at first, but baby steps!).
I haven’t seen much of boy growing pains culture but I love seeing it here.

You’ve broken my heart and repaired it 100 times over. I will always love this book.

It’s such a raw take on love, both as a kid who did not have a very clear grasp on love and had a very traumatizing young life, this is such an important story.
