CREMA by Johnnie Christmas

"Crema" offers up a story of ancient ghosts, lots of coffee, and queer girls, set primarily in Brazil and with a fast-moving plot. On the whole it's a fun premise, and the artwork is a lovely, warm, muted palette of colors that reflect that story really nicely. It's a bit of an "easy" read; there's immediate insta-love that sort of lacks chemistry at the start, and the twists are predictable and nothing fresh. I wanted this to be MORE- more developed, more plot, more talking to avoid cheesy misunderstandings. But it's a solid read in it's own way, and I think fans of works like "Lobizona" by Romina Garber or "Moonstruck" by Grace Ellis would enjoy this.

the art style was beautiful and i genuinely enjoyed looking at it. it was a super quick, fun read. the pacing was a bit too fast and underdeveloped but it’s a really short graphic novel so that was to be expected. i enjoyed the whole “love, ghosts, and coffee” because that, along with how pretty the cover is, sold me.

A solid read, if a bit fast paced. Thrilling story, though!

Starting by saying how beautiful the illustrations are but ... I simply just didn't get the hype. I enjoyed relationship between the main characters although it was so rushed. And just felt confused when the ghost elements came in to play. Just not my bag.
