all 2018 comments: this was my introduction to Marvel Comics after discovering the Winter Solider film (years after release) and loving it. because it was my first introduction to comics, I knew there were things that I didn't quite get, but I ended it enough to press on with whatever Cap comics I could find at my local public library. with my recent acquisition of marvel unlimited, I was so excited to read the Brubaker Cap run in its entirety (& in order), and despite having read this already, I couldn't resist revisiting it.
I love so much about this run. I love Steve dealing with his (Cosmic Cube corrupted) memories and dreams. I love the emotion in that too; I love the humanity of it and that it weakens him and distracts him (like only reason Crossbones had a chance, obviously). reading this is 2018 in the middle of a Cap run missing this emotional weight, it made me really miss the humanity and depth that Brubaker brings to Cap.
Because I was reading this on marvel unlimited, I also got to see the letters pages from the issues, which were so great (I really like letter pages, guys, is this normal?). I could have sworn that the Jack Monroe interlude issue was new to me, but according to Goodreads it was in the trade, so maybe I just didn't care / didn't read it / don't remember it.
Final (useless) note: I have always loved Steve's near Brooklyn Bridge apartment, so its introduction here made me happy.

Personalmente, siempre me ha gustado la película del mismo nombre del 2014 y de hecho está dentro de mi top de favoritas del UCM. Hace poco me interese por leer el cómic en el que está basado y así llegué a este volumen. Obviamente, no son muy parecidos pero entiendo la razón. En el cómic utilizan mucho flashbacks y personajes que no hemos visto en las películas de una manera única y con un historia que funciona a la perfección. Estoy ansiosa por leer el volumen 2 y ver como termina la historia.

Reading this in preparation for the Cap2 movie--I had read a smattering of Brubaker's run on this book, and knew the major spoiler, but it was a treat to read this first arc. Nothing like a slowly paced spy thriller with a noir feel. On most days I think I'd still rather read just straight-up crime ficiton from Brubaker, but this is a great read when you're in a spandex mood.

Me demoré un poco mucho en leerlo, pero vale absolutamente la pena.
El Capitán América es uno de mis personajes favoritos de todos los tiempos, su lealtad me impresiona y me encanta la seguridad con la que desenvuelve a pesar de ser un soldado fuera de época.
En esta entrega Steve se encuentra con fantasmas de su pasado, entre amigos y archienemigos el cap se enfrenta a una dura realidad, sus recuerdos han estado jugandole una mala pasada, se mezcla la verdad con la fantasía al grado de no saber cómo fue realmente la muerte de su amigo y aliado: Bucky Barnes.
La película es una de las que más me gusta del MCU y en el cómic encontré muchas cosas nuevas que hicieron la historia mucho más intensa de lo que ya es. Y, definitivamente me gusta muchísimo más la Agente 13 del cómic, jeje.
En temas de dibujo no soy la persona que más sabe, pero me encantó cada detalle y cada uno de los colores que se utilizaban en cada escena, todo parecía estar en su lugar.
El punto que más me maravilló de la historia fue la razón que tuvo el autor para escribir esta historia: Como bien dice, en el mundo de Marvel habían tres personajes que estaban definitivamente muertos, que no había ninguna posibilidad de que revivieran en próximos números, entre ellos estaba Bucky Barnes. Para Ed, como buen fan de las historietas, era incomprensible que nunca se haya sabido más sobre el compañero del Capitán América, en especial sobre su muerte.
