I read quite a view books aubot ww II but mostly from a western european view. To learn about how it was at the balkan and in romania was quite interesting. But that was actually the thing I liked best about the book. The protagonist  felt rather one dimensional. The whole set up of the novel and the political and geographical backround of the story is so fascinating. But all that was told about the characters fell flat in comparison. I'm not sure, if I continue with the series.

My Number 1 of 2023 (this refers to the series of three). So atmospheric - you can feel the war creeping closer. Great wacky characters.
