This was an interesting glimpse into the origin story of Dana Scully. As a big fan of the X-Files I felt like the author portrayed Scully well with regards to her mannerisms and traits.  I was surprised at the heavily paranormal/new age focus of the main mystery as that didn't seem to fit in as well with the character, but I understand the angle that he ultimately went for. As it's companion book on Fox Mulder, it does leave things open ended and mysterious, but it doesn't quite fit in as neatly into the universe of the show as the Mulder tale does.
