This is a coming-of-age story about a trans girl who grapples with her identity while training to be a witch. It was an interesting story, although a bit heavy-handed at times. I don’t normally read fantasy books so I also had a hard time getting into the plot.

Every time I was getting worried about the author verging into an area where I disagreed with philosophically or as a trans person, I was pleasantly surprised - and that like never happens. The narration was fantastic and the story was compelling. I simply have nothing bad to say about this book. Everything had a level of complexity that made everything feel very realistic and grounded despite the reality of magic.
