A fairly predictable murder-mystery/thriller with flat characters and average writing, but nonetheless an interesting concept and a reasonably engaging read.

Suspenseful and with an ending I did not guess. Good characters and plot development.

It was nice reading this in December. I never thought I’m a reader that needs to read differently in different seasons, or a mood reader at that, but I might reconsider.

The book itself was pretty good, it dragged a bit in the middle and the main character was just so unreliable at some point I was afraid it would be to annoying for me to continue( I have extremely little patience for this kind of nonsense) but the line wasn’t crossed.

Good start.

Felt it was lacking in the way the characters were portrayed. None whatsoever were likeable apart from Maarten and even he was a bit lackluster. I felt bored in some bits but.i wasn't expecting the ending at all

It was an entertaining, atmospheric and fascinating read.
It gives you an impression of cold, winter, and grey skies.
The plot was engaging and I wasn't able to put this book down.
Even if it's not my usual type of mystery I really liked and appreciated it.
I look forward to reading other books by this author.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to Head of Zeus and Netgalley for this ARC

A compelling thriller from start to finish, a who-dunnit where the culprit is not obvious or completely random and a story that keeps you hooked.

Reminding me a lot of The Girl on the Train, it gets a bit confusing when dealing with Jenny's memories that all fumbled due to her exhaustion but it all becomes clear in the end.

I enjoyed the style of writing, having the story told by two main characters helped to show the full image of the mystery, and helped us feel as if we were solving the case along with the detective.

I would recommend this book, if you are a fan of well thought out mysteries and thrillers.

Quite a good read. Slow-paced and thoughtful but very atmospheric and has some elements of the scandi-noir genre about it. The supernatural elements to it call back a bit to something like the Babbadook - is she really seeing and experiencing what she is or is it due to some form of post-natal depression? It's not really answered in any definitive fashion but I think the story is all the better for it. Let the reader decide.
