POV: You’re in love with Fitzy and Summer at the same exact time.

I thought this book was so so cute. I absolutely adore summer I think she’s the cutest thing EVER. I really appreciated seeing her struggle with her ADHD and made me feel better about my own. Fitzy is the sweetest man and so hot, like hello???

My brain goes caveman on me.
Summer scream.
Summer danger.
Save summer.

I’m in love with this man.
My TW/CW:
  • Sexual Assault:
a side character has an attempted sexual assault, summer stops it before anything too serious happens
  • Sexual Harassment:
Summer is sexually harassed by her professor
  • Ableism:
Summer is treated badly by her academic advisor for her ADHD, and she has some self deprecating internal dialogue but she grows and learns to accept herself ♡

The first book in the Briar U series. Summer DiLaurentis, who is a fashion major, transfers to Briar U from Brown after she accidentally sets a fire at her sorority house. She moves into a house with a few of her older brother’s friends and develops a crush on one of the hockey players there named Colin Fitzgerald. Colin is a coder who develops video games, in edition to playing hockey. They dance around their feelings for each other, eventually giving in and finding out they have more in common than they thought (such as their love for a epic fantasy series).

Good book

I really like fitz because he’s so different and there are a lot of aspects to him that just make him unique.

Also, I like all  the boy characters in these books. Like before summer and fitz started dating, I was rooting for nearly every person  that showed interest in her/she showed interest in.

At first, I was being a total Fitz and taking Summer at surface level - so much so that I considered stoping at about 10%. Then I realized that was unfair, so I gave it a few more chapters and ended up really enjoying Summer as the MFC. Her struggles with ADHD were handled really well and I appreciated the attempt to show her adaptation to alternate learning methods.

However, while I ended up enjoying probably the first 80%, the last 20% just tanked - everything moved at light speed and it all got wrapped up with a pretty bow much too quickly.

this was so cringy i was threatening to dnf just after the first chapter. it read like really bad fanfiction and i deserve to be compensated by all the people who recommended this book.

it gets an extra .5 star because i was simply entertained by how bad it was.
