an interesting plot and certainly keeps you on your toes, but the dialogue comes off a bit corny and unnatural at times. then there’s the title that just barely makes sense. also I can’t believe I stayed up past 1:00 AM for that underwhelming ass ending. Dean really pissed me off with that
1 more thing: the descriptions involving the 15 year old girl’s breasts were just. unnecessary and awkward

As I was heavily skimming through this novel, I thought to myself, "I remember Dean Koontz being better than this."
Then about halfway through, I paused. What exactly do I remember about reading Dean Koontz?
Hmm.
....
There was...
And then that....
Darkness. Someone was afraid of darkness. And there was a hermaphrodite that one time.
Yeah, apparently I don't remember novels from childhood like I thought I did.
Dean Koontz sucks. How did I forget that?

First of all- I don't do spiders.
Second of all- what does a Mask have anything to do with any of this?
Third of all- EXCUSE ME, what is this ending??

Solid horror-thriller. I realized after I'd started it that I actually have read this book before, but it's been years - since middle school, iirc. I remembered liking it, but couldn't recall any of the details, so it was still pretty gripping. I did think the ending was awfully abrupt — lots of rising action, good climax, and then NOPE DONE. A little more resolution would have been nice. And it's my own personal gripe, but I had to knock it down a star because . But it had a compelling plot, likable (if somewhat flat) characters, and a high creep factor, so it was overall an entertaining read.

the cat turned out to be evil and had to be killed. Sorry, I'm a cat person, so that's a no-go for medonnakaye64's review against another edition

This book starts out well and kept me interested throughout most of it. The ending was a huge disappointment for me. It seemed hurried and unfinished. Just my opinion.
