This author sets women back generations. Unfortunately, there are some truths here in our current society. It is true even progressive, liberal husbands have difficulty tolerating the "demasculinization" that occurs being married to a smart, successful, "controlling" women but the author's suggestions are archaic and anti-feminist (ie let men handle the money so that they can feel more masculine). I reject the idea that men need masculine validation from their compliant and receptive wives to feel worthy. F*** that sh**! Where are the enlightened men that realize that this is societal bias and pressure that makes them feel disrespected when we gently ask them wash clothes a certain way? I totally agree that those of us women who are type A and try to control everything need to let go the vast majority things and stop judging ourselves and others. BUT why can't men realize that women try to control with increasing anxiety and stress and instead of thinking "she thinks I'm an idiot" or "she doesn't respect me," he thinks "wow she seems really stressed right now this is probably not about me." Where is the book that teaches men to do that. Oh wait, men don't read self-help books on relationships. Once again the burden to make things right falls to women--to change our mindset, change our behavior, and cater to men's sensitivities. Men are idiots and I fear that implementing this author's suggestions will actually work and in-turn reinforce these traditional gender roles. I will be looking for a smarter, more intelligent relationship self-help book that doesn't make me feel so bitter.

This book challenged me in ways I wasn't expecting. The first chapter or so I rolled my eyes because I thought the author was a bit arrogant thinking that her tricks could save every marriage. Then I read the books and it totally made sense. I'm glad I read it and have already tried implementing some strategies she mentions.
