This was an amazing book. I don’t read books like this often, but it switched between characters, between poetry and prose in a beautiful way. I don’t know how accurate this telling of the Lewis and Clark expedition is, but it definitely captured the courage and excitement of the company.

"So long as there is an empty space on the map
there is an empty space in me as well.

Perhaps I will fill them both."

This book was great, but a slower read. It details Lewis & Clark's quest to find the Northwest Passage and to explore the American West. The format of this book was primarily verse, which made the reading much lighter than I expected. The author also wrote from numerous perspectives, including Lewis's dog, which made the plot progression much more interesting.

This book started out as interesting - it's a verse novel with several different narrators from the Lewis and Clark expedition - but wore out it's welcome. It seemed to go on forever.
