“That pain you feel? That's love.”
― olivie blake, Masters of Death

Slice of life but add creatures, immortals, and a ghost. The writing is a mix of prose with eloquent poetry that borders on flight of fancy, a flair of romance and of course Blake's signature dash of philosophy with comedic undertones. The variety of characters and humor captivated my attention. We have: a softhearted vampire cat, a testy ghost, a guardian angel and reaper, a demigod, a pair of archangels, demons, Death and a moral. Along their journey through an immortals game, we begin to see a truth; that our mortal dilemmas is the vice of immortals.

Blake once again has an excellent host of characters that she balances so well. I loved the mystery and twists in this book, and thought the ‘game’ was such a unique idea. Was the ending a bit neat and saccharine? Sure, but I am a sucker for a happy ending.

An adorable group of characters and I loved all their little interactions, they were so cute. A good audiobook, a little convulted/flowery in the writing, but that's okay

This is a story about Death. Or rather his godson. And an actual god's son. And a real estate agent who happens to be a vampire. As well as the ghost haunting the house she desperately wants to sell.
There's also her friend the fitness buff, who happens to be a demon, but she feels that's a bit of an unfair classification.

This motley crew of supernatural creatures provides a very entertaining adventure about a rather confusing game with incredibly high-stakes. If that isn't enough to peak your interest, how about some cameos from Gabriel and Michael, the pearl-clutching arch-angels?

Come for the humour and stay for the humour, this one will have you smirking and entertained throughout the story.

i enjoyed this so so so much more than i enjoyed the atlas six. it's october, so i figured i'd read a book centred around the paranormal and death and whatnot, and this was SO GOOD. granted, there wasn't really much plot, it was a very character driven book with the bare bones of a plot, but the characters are what makes this book worthwhile. it was funny, entertaining and all of the characters genuinely seemed real and have minds of their own. my favourite had to be fox, or mayra. i would probably read this again, because i had such a good time reading it
