This book gave me [a:Becky Albertalli|7579036|Becky Albertalli|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1392414949p2/7579036.jpg] vibes. It's not that everything is viewed through rose-tinted glasses, or even that it's smooth sailing for the main character but it just felt wholesome and good. The kind of book you know will have a happy ending.
It's a good book. I enjoyed reading it, but I wish it was a bit more nuanced.

Yall know I love a good sports book and this is a good sports book. It has romance, sports (obviously) and deals with the very real issues faced by transgender individuals who want to do sports. But it does a good job at balancing all of these things in a way that makes the characters feel just as real as the issues that the story is presenting. (Plus the romance was kinda super cute).
I received an ecopy of this book through Netgalley; however, my opinions are my own.

I didn't realise that a transgender boy falling for a Christian boy would be one of thr few romance I actually enjoy but this book was so good

Very cutesey! I felt there wasn't much wrap up to the story between Spencer, his brother, and his parents. As someone who grew up with a medically complex sibling, I was hoping his parents would realize how much they were asking him to do.

This was a heartwarming book about a trans teenager trying to find where he fits in as new school. There are crushes, soccer, and secrets. All the things a ya novel needs!

I loved this book. It quickly drew me in and kept me interested until the last page. throughout this book I found myself having strong feelings about each and every character from Spencer to Justice's parents. They all felt so real and put together that they existed outside of the story in their own ways. What I found so wonderful about this novel and the writing/character development is that there were many arcs happening but not in a way that was confusing or seemed less important.
This story felt so real and I am sure parts of it are in different parts of peoples lives. This book has representation of so many different things including a trans main character as well as a brother who is autistic and other characters that are queer, non-binary or gay.
This book left with a kind of open end but, reminds us that society has not developed enough for the author completely tie up the loose ends.
Overall, I would recommend this book to anybody who wants to learn more about the experiences and hardships of others. There is enough wholesome-romance for anyone who loves romance as well as talks about soccer and just being a young person in today's society.
