“That bastard was leaving me again.” Any book that starts with a first sentence like that immediately has me hooked!
I knew Fable was popular, so I placed a hold on it at the library, but I honestly didn’t know what it was about. I’m so glad I went in blind. I really enjoyed the characters who are morally questionable but loyal to one another, the nautical story (it made my Pirates of the Caribbean loving heart so happy) and Fable herself. She’s a strong, independent survivor and her narration is really good.
I have 42 highlights from this book, Adrienne Young is a wordsmith! I can’t wait to read more in the sequel and ready more of Adrienne’s books!
I definitely recommend this one!

You can absolutely judge this book by its cover.
“You weren’t made for this world, Fable.”
From my friends POV I was in bed while reading this, but in my POV I was on a dock, wind-blowing softly against my curls as the ocean swayed and I could taste salt and rye on my lips. The rhythmic sound of sails flapping and crew members laughing filled the air and tucking my knife safely deeper in my boots, I could feel adventure rising like the sun.
In a world where a father can abandon his fourteen year old daughter on a island after losing her mother and the ship she grew up on, promising her that if she made it back to him, he would give her everything that was rightfully hers, there are 5 rules that keep you alive:

For some reason i thought this was a standalone novel (don't ask me why i thought that) so i almost gave this a 2 star review bc i thought the ending was going to be TRASH.
