Decent storyline. Liked seeing Paul come back in and want to help find his mom. I liked the portion when Spenser and Pearl get lost in the woods, Vinnie starting to step away from the Broz syndicate, and then of course Hawk saving the day.

Purely a "meh" in the Spenser series. Nothing objectionable, nothing memorable. Parker still likes to psychoanalyze everyone, but thankfully it doesn't drive the plot like it used to.

Paul, brings out a side of Spenser that doesn't show up in the other Parker mysteries and it is nice to see that Parker has the skill as a writer and Spenser the range as a character to desplay his parental side.

Spenser shows his softer side again in this saga that picks up a character from the past...Paul, a kid that he had helped. The kid's mom was MIA and Spenser set about to find her. Well he and Paul do just that and find mob connections and a lot more action than they expected. This had some interesting layers, including a glimpse into the relationship between a mob father and his son.
