A much less incestuous and kidnappy modern retelling of the myth of Persephone and Hades. But the instalove and the age gap remain (in a good way!)

I appreciated the gender-diversity rep as well.

Can't express how fun and joyful (also saucy) this is. Devoured it like a bag of chips. Pure pleasure.

Persephone in Bloom

  • Modern Greek Romance
  • Grumpy x Sunshine
  • Plus size FMC
  • Non Toxic Persephone X Hades

Pros: Despite using recognisable names and characters in the setting of a modern office workplace it all fits together seamlessly. Plenty of subtle mythology references as easter eggs such as nicknames, tattoos, pets. While Hades X Persephones relationship is definitely a strong point of the book, exploring Demeters and Persephones relationship was just as interesting. Also a nice set up for future books while being a strong standalone :)

Cons: Some character reactions can come across, for lack of a better word, cartoonish(?) Looking at you Ares and Zeus...

Can’t deal with the narcissistic mother any longer. Persephone wants “independence” but complains about it. Wants to be self made but only for other people’s opinion. What happened to cause hades aversion to heights? It was alluded to but honestly at this point, without an explanation it’s just annoying. And there’s no explanation for his depth of feeling at this point. You’re not in love. You don’t even know her. It’s bland. And the sec was shit. Like not that the smut was bad, but no foreplay, a single wallet condom, and having to work your own clit on the first time together is not good chemistry.

I will read anything that is Hades x Persephone!

This was a cute read. It definitely was very low stakes, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I’m looking forward to reading the other books in the series as well.
