i was expecting so much better from this. the concept is good but the execution?

I am going to lead with TRIGGER WARNINGS: sexual assault, mentions kidnapping, assault, mentions drug and alcohol abuse. I think the first few chapters really grabbed my attention but I will say (SPOILER) that when the friends are boarder line ready to sexually assault Fawn that was a huge red flag for me and then Ares chokes her multiple times which is abusive relationship in my opinion so I don't get how thats attractive. I WILL SAY that later one she was incredibly into punishment kinks like being choked etc. I was close to taking stars away because of the assault/abuse in the relationship. Especially when he chokes her I didn't see how you would be able to come back from that. But it isn't for very long & the character change in Ares was overwhelming. On top of this I would say that I thought the reason behind why they are entering a fake dating relationship was dumb and weak. I wish it was a stronger reason other than he just wanted his family off his back.

I loved this book. There were so many twists that I wasn't expecting. Also holy trauma these main characters have been through it. I wasn't expecting him to have survived Cancer and she had a fear of cars and come to find out she caused her dads death. I will say the cliffhanger had me reeling. I have never sought after more chapters of a book before and she did have additional chapter that I scoured for. So beware that there is a cliffhanger and the second book doesn't come out until May 2023 and literally cannot wait to get my hands on it. I cannot stop thinking about this book.

Eat You Alive is the fourth book in the Court Legacy series. This book is told by dual points of view by Fawn and Ares "Wolf." We have met Wolf in the past books, but I was excited to see his back story, and get to know him more.

Fawn is the perfect companion for him. Fawn and Wolf have met in the past and something happened that makes Wolf want to get revenge. Fawn is now at his school and something happens where Wolf gets his clutches on her, and gets her to be his fake girlfriend through blackmail. Fawn doesn’t really have a choice, but to oblige.

Fawn is not the easy target for the fake girlfriend though. She battles Wolf the whole way. I love the banter between the two of them, and getting to know them as people.

So many things happen, and of course I need to know if they get their happy ending, so I can't wait to see what happens next with these two characters!

Before I say anything, let me preface with the fact that I read this as a standalone book.

I don't really think it impacted my personal reading experience, but there were definitely some family connections that I didn't get right away, but Eden did a wonderful job of eventually explaining what needed to be explained.

Eden includes trigger warnings at the beginning, so the harsher scenes never really bothered me. All in all, it is a fairly good book. If I remember correctly, I read it in two or three days, which is honestly a very fast read for me. The only reasons I give it a four and not a five are below (there's only 2!).

1. Eden as a protagonist just wasn't super relatable or memorable to me. This never stopped me from finishing it, but I did find myself stopping for quick breaks just because my brain likes to put itself in the characters shoes when I read, and it was a lot harder for me with this book. I wish I could explain why.

2. The writing itself leaves something to be desired. I think part of this is because I read it as a standalone. There were moments that it felt like it had been written quickly or specific scenes were written just because the established audience would want that scene. I still enjoyed those scenes, but I felt myself wanting to explore them or understand them more than what was written, instead of a "this is what happened, now we keep moving" way.

Still a great book and would recommend this to anyone who wants a quick read. I will be reading more of Eden's books in the future.

I love romance books and don't mind them being a bit darker but this was a big NO
