This book was a great addition to Sarah J Maas’ series. I wasn’t sure how much I would like reading about war, but the small storylines woven into it made it an amazing read. I was also very intrigued by the massive amount of character development in many of the people in the story. There were a lot of names to remember, but I think that the story was well written that every single character had an important part in shaping the ending of the book, even if it may not have ended in their favor. I especially appreciated when
Tamlin finally let go of Feyre and accepted that he was not going to have her back. It was very honorable for him to save Rhysand for her. He could have easily let him die, but honestly, I don’t know if he would have. Everyone was staring at him and everyone else had helped. Maybe it was for his own benefit? Who knows. I also was sad that their father was not as much of an important character up until his death. I feel like he was used behind the scenes because he was an ‘extra’ that needed to do something. I do feel like his role was valuable, but the way his character was given no story time was kind of sad, when he had such a big role in how the end came about
. Overall, this was a fantastic book and I can’t wait to read the next one, which I have already purchased! Woohoo!

Okay, I’m sold. The first two books were a bit of a commitment but I’m all in. Extremely fully imagined world, complex characters with intense relationships (my weakness), really interesting magical system, very compelling plot - will be reading the whole series

Ok, it’s been some time for me to collect my thoughts. Let’s begin!

I loved this book and also hated this book. It gave me endless joy, but then immediately ripped my heart out the next minute. I feel like that’s what SJM does best and I am a sucker for it.

The beginning was strong. I loved the revenge tour at the Spring Court. Feyre was awesome and it really added some depth to her. Another MVP of this book was Lucien. I didn’t like him in ACOTAR, he was a little more likable in ACOMAF, but he really shines in this book. I was not expecting to look forward to seeing him throughout the book, but I did! Tamlin, while things do happen toward the end, is still Tamlin. I don’t think he is fully redeemed and he annoyed me quite a bit, but I do appreciate him doing something good because he just gets roasted the entire book. Rhys, like always, is perfect. This book really shows his flaws well too. He’s selfless, but also self-sacrificial. The rest of the Inner Circle shine as well, giving us some really great moments in this book.

The plot is good and makes you wanna read more. I loved the use of foreshadowing and leaving plot points throughout the story that end up coming back later. And in the end, everything tied up nicely (with a few loose ends for future books :) ).

Now for my gripes, so spoilers!
I really liked Lucien in the first half of the book, but once he leaves to go to the continent, you never hear anything about him until the last fifty pages. Idk, felt like everyone forgot him or something. And also, Feyre’s dad coming in last minute?? I appreciate that being cleared up because after what happened in ACOMAF, I was like, Where the heck is Mr. Archeron? I felt like it could have been integrated better, there’s no foreshadowing for it at all. It came out of left field. Which is good, but it was too much of a shock for me imo.

Overall, great book. I loved it. It made me cheer, cry, and so many other things. I especially felt a lot of emotions during THAT ONE SCENE. If you’ve read the book, you know what I’m talking about. (Gave me a heart attack. I don’t trust anyone anymore 😵‍💫)

TLDR: Great book, gave me ptsd 10/10
