The iconic hand job scene is in this one, and boy, did I eat that up. Not as spicy as ACOMAF but I wasn't missing it too much to be honest. I can't wait to see if
Nesta and Cassian end up together, and if they're mates, and if/when Lucien and Elain finally acknowledge theirs.
I think it might be a little disappointing if it ended up wrapping together up in a bow like that, but who knows. Also, suck it Tamlin.

This was amazing. The final fight scenes gave me CHILLS. The author does such a great job connecting all the characters and making you love them so much. God it’s so good!!

I truly found the second and third books of this trilogy to be incredible. The way Maas describes Velaris and every relationship (platonic, romantic, or otherwise) is with such fondness and precision.
I even loved Tamlin's small redemption arc at the end.
. I rated this book slightly higher than the second (I pretend the first doesn't exist) because it's beautiful to see Rhys's and Feyre's healthy relationship grow into something stable. I wonder if Maas wrote the trilogy this way to make these later stories so much more meaningful. Mor's revelation, the sacrifices at the ending, the building romance between
Nesta and Cassian - even the complicated tryst between Elain, Lucien, and Graysen...
It was all worth it. I hope the tv show producers make this world as diverse as I imagined it. This was stunning, and I want to escape into the warmth of this little crew again and again. Perhaps what makes this unique POV special is that the rest of the characters are surrounded by longing.
from Tamlin, to Mor, to Helion, and Lucien (that plotline I want to see wrapped up).
. Nothing is guaranteed in this world, which makes the fierce love all the better. Even the squealing amongst friends at reunions was a pure delight. (Also, did anyone else notice how Maas is so into scents?)
The scene with Rhys rubbing rosemary onto Feyre's back was really heavenly.
. Beautifully done.

Review from 2nd re-read: The first half of this book absolutely slaps and I absolutely adored seeing
Feyre' owning her power and getting her revenge.
I was really, really enjoying my re-read and thought this book was on track for being a 5⭐... THEN we got to the "war" sections of the book and my enjoyment completely tanked. I am not really a fan of battle sequences anyway and the scenes just are not very well crafted in this book. The fact that we have around 200ish pages of battle with very little relief is tedious. I also have a lot of issues with the way that the final battle plays out.
Amren breaking the Cauldron and ending the war felt too easy, the use of the resurrection trope on both Amren and Rhysand infuriated me (as much as I love Amren, she should have truly died), the fact that Stryga is the only named character who died, the way that Elaine's prophecy about Cassian's death came to naught...
so much disappointment.

I feel like the ending just kind fizzles. Whilst I know there are more books to the series, it would have been more satisfying to have
Feyre and Rhysand's arcs to feel fully complete. I feel like there was probably a way to have an epilogue that gives a glimpse of their futures whilst also leaving it ambiguous enough that the reader is still surprised by the interim step to get to that point that we see in the future books i.e. we see them with kids, maybe dying together in the future?
I dunno, the ending was just weak :(

Review and rating from first read: I had a few issues with this book which largely revolves around the way that the story concludes.
I had seen fan art for Nyx so I felt pretty confident that Feysand would survive the war, Az has a kinda of love triangle with Elaine, and I knew ACOSF was a Nessian story so the only character that I felt any actual tension for in the end of the book was Amren. I was somewhat disappointed that both Rhys and Amren were essentially resurrected. I also didn't like how quickly the story ended and the characters kinda just immediately got a happy ending since there had been a lot of time spent on the trauma and fallout with all of the previous battles.

Overall, it was the kind of trash that I enjoy. 4.25⭐

This book was a bit hard for me to go through, because it's a lot about war, and battles, and it's not my favourite thing to read. Plus, the pace felt painfully slow at some times. But I love this world and the characters so much that in the end, it was always a pleasure to come back to it whenever I had time to read.

I'm glad we got to see more of some side characters I loved in book two
(the Bone Carver and the Weaver, my fav death gods <3)
, and I was sooo happy to get more Lucien content because I love this character so much. The whole mate trope that includes him is a different take on this supposedly strong love bond, and it brings a new depth to what the mating bond means.

We also got to meet the other High Lords, and each one has a story and some characterization that could be further developed in the next books and I like that. The worldbuilding in this series is always a treat. With these new characters came the first LGBTQ+ rep of the series and whooosh, that was about time! I'm especially glad that someone in the inner circle was revealed to be part of the LGBTQ+ community. It is so important to show diversity among the main characters.
Even though Morrigan's attraction to girls is still a secret for most of the cast, I really hope we'll see her embrace this part of her in the next books.

About the end of the trilogy... I've been amazed these last years at the beautiful conclusions of my faves series (A conjuring of Light, Six of crows, etc), and they had such a good balance between a happy ending and the loss of some characters. I did not find this here and I was a bit disappointed.
Sure, some things were lost, the characters will never be the same etc, but the fact that it was a bloody war and that ALL of the main cast survives bothered me a bit. I don't say that you have to kill characters for an ending to be well-written, but I feel like if the reader gets used to high stakes that end up being not-so-high, at some point we won't fall for it anymore. For example, I loved Feyre's near-death in book one. And I was okay with her surviving by being Made. But if when Rhys dies because his need for self-sacrifice was damn too big, and we get to resurrect him the exact same way (even though he was already Fae), AND he brings Amren back from the dead with him, it is too much. I feel like no one could possibly die in this series now :').

Same thing goes for Azriel and Cassian's wounds. Okay, they're fae and have enhanced healing capacities and skilled healers to patch them up. But if they keep getting their wings wrecked and their bodies as well, I think it would be interesting to have one of them deal with sequels from these battles. Like a (partial?) inability to fly instead of just scars. I think it would bring higher stakes in the story.

That being said, I still had a very good time, and I'm looking forward to reading A Court of Frost and Starlight where I hope the characters will get to have some peace, and I will get to read lots of Inner Circle banter that I love so much.
