Wow.....so much pain, heartache, death. So much war. It felt like I kept getting punch in the gut over and over. Very very good read.

I loved continuing Feyre's story in this book. You see her really come into her role as High Lady and that helps her serve as a mediator and leader jn her own right in the lead up to and during the war. Though the actual fighting starts about halfway through this sizable novel, it feels surprisingly soon, and I was surprised there were only 3 battles with the combined force. And *Spoiler* I also think Rhysand's death was unnecessary. It demonstrated what we already knew about him based on his actions Under the Mountain, and added extra trauma for Feyre that she didn't need. Even though she's helping with this war, she's still recovering from what happened with Amarantha and with her sisters, and this felt like an unnecessary blow. There was already enough emotion going on from the fighting, and I as a reader didn't need my heart to stop in this moment either.

I love how Feyre's sisters come into their own in this novel as well. They learn to master their powers and find their purpose and show some surprising growth along the way. The three sisters definitely have a much stronger relationship at the end of this novel than they did at the beginning of the series, and that's heartening to see.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this novel and I look forward to the next part of the saga.

Second read - audiobook. WOW I missed so much the first time. It was just a wonderful story. The first half is so awesome, and the High Lords meeting (perfection!). Parts of the end though annoyed me even more this time (ahem the last bargain). Maybe it’s 4.75 ✨rounded up.

First read - So good but so long! 4.5 rounded up. Book 2 (ACOMAF) is my still my favorite so far. Read and listened because I needed to know what was happening!
