This book was gripping from start to finish, mysterious. A perfect way to kick off fall.

It wasn’t particularly scary, but very creepy and unsettling. Very well written, and I’d read it again in a heartbeat

I felt kinda lost sometimes when reading this, like one second Eleanor hated Theodora and then she didn't, or one second the ladies were freaking out and then acting like nothing happened, or acting like they were into Luke then into each other then not, or they just dropped random sentences at times, or the repetition of journeys ending in lovers meeting and the lies about star cups and weird stuff like that. I never knew if it was because the house was making them go insane or if I was just lost...

Also I would've liked more explanation for the ending.

(Thanks to Schmoop I understood a bit better)

LOVEEED MRS. MONTAGUE xD!! And Arthur and Mrs. Dudley were cool too xD

If Shirley Jackson has no haters it means I’m dead. The Netflix people have a great imagination because this book was beyond boring, ready to put me to sleep. I had to force myself to get through it. She also doesn’t know how to have a cohesive thought for the life of her. I would give this 0 stars if I could.
