This book had me giggling and kicking my feet. There are some awful characters (they're pirates so some of them are shit heads) but I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and the story! I had a great time with every page!

I dnf'd this book twice in 2021, and now that I've read it...
I'm genuinely in love.
This book was phenomenal! It's easily my favorite high fantasy since I read Six of Crows. Yes, It's on the same level. The characters were well-rounded and badass, the plot was present, but not overbearing, and the romance was slow-burned and exciting to read about. Our main character was amazing, as was her crew. The creepy guys in this book were rightly villainized, and the one's that weren't were also lovely. A near perfect high fantasy, and I can't wait to read the second book. Even if you don't like high fantasy, the world isn't that complicated so it's easy to read, and it's absolutely wonderful one at that.
Our main character, Alosa, has completely changed my expectations for the  badass main character role, as has the relationship. The best part is she didn't go soft when she started to get feelings- no she just got stronger to protect those she cares about. Yes. Yes. I'm furious with myself for not reading this book sooner, and I wish I had this book in my life for longer than I have- which is a few days. Nevertheless, I love this book (if that's not clear.)
Check out the trigger warnings first, and other than that, read this book, I plead of you.
