This was really fun and I’m liking the romance but I really like the main character and I’m excited to learn more about her crew in book 2

Well this was a fun read. I was kind of leaning towards 3.5 stars instead, but I really did fly through it and enjoy it, so I went with 4 in the end.
This is a book about the daughter of the Pirate King, who is a bad-ass, swashbuckling, sassy and sarcastic pirate on her own terms. It was incredibly enjoyable to watch her kick ass and take names and get (mostly) what she wanted. I could have done without the numerous references to sexual assault and/or raping her, but on the other hand, she always manages to avert any actual sexual assault (mostly), so that was good. It was just a bit much at times.
I loved the love interest, even if he kept insisting she should have been "allowed" to be a "proper lady" and not "forced' to be raised a pirate. Like Sir, maybe she likes being a pirate, chill.
Anyway I'm still looking forward to the second book, without a doubt. I'm curious to see both how the romance develops, but also how both the characters develop on their own, and if the MC ends up going against her father or getting some independence.

This was a very fun, easy read. I really liked the story and the romance. The writing style reminded me of Throne of Glass in that it is uncomplicated so you can just rip through. Would recommend if you want a fun, fast paced read.
