Thirst Trap

Do you ever read a book and you know you aren't in a comfy position and lying in this precise sort of slouch is something you know is going to throw your lower back into a minor spasm but you think sure I'll move after this chapter but then 2 hours pass and you've finished the whole book, you can't now get up and everything is different? WELL Thirst Trap brings that to the party. I would quite like to raise a grievance with both SJP and James Daunt as to why this wasn't included on the booker nor Waterstones debut novelist lists (I'm more inclined to forgive SJP for what I can only assume was an administrative error for we love her very much). I can't be bothered synopsising a book, but I can be bothered telling you this is glorious. It's funny the whole way through, in that sharp witty way that with a lesser author can get a bit tired, it's kind of in a venn diagram of sex and the city (when it was good) crossed with Everything I Know about Love, (yes, this is Dolly tier) via Belfast and well just look at the cover. If you think Normal People is the pinnacle of books written by women from Ireland you are very very much missing a trick. Sweet Maggie, Sweet Harley, Sweet Róise ❤️ 5/5.

Funny and touching, I loved it. Really well written, hard to believe this is a debut. Really looking forward to reading more from this author!

This was a funny, character driven novel following 3 best friends/room mates after their best friend Lidia dies. They are all deeply flawed, funny, and managing their grief in unique ways.

This wasn’t anything really new when it came to the story, but I enjoyed it overall.

Thank you NetGalley && Crown Publishing for the ARC!
