Thirst Trap

3/5 ⭐️: darkly funny novel about friendship and growing up (or not). Loved the three main characters and their hilarious escapades. The story was more character focused than plot focused (i.e. not a whole lot happened). I did appreciate that the three women weren’t miraculously changed by the end of the book, they were allowed to be flawed and that made them all the more relatable. Not a life changing read, but great craic all the same.

Messy characters but at least they acknowledge their messyness. Genuinely funny at times.

Ummm I think reading about grown ass adults just indulging in drugs and alcohol is not for me. The messiness does not feel endearing but pathetic. I think people who will enjoy this book describe this books as 'raw and real' but there little room any nunace. Neither of the 3 main characters are nice people, they're not good friends to eachother so I didn't feel invested or particularly touched by interaction. I only liked Adam because he seemed like an actual adult. The writing is ok. It takes some time to get used to the pov's being switched so frequently. The last chapter ties a nice neat bow but the pay off is not worth it. This will be a forgetful read.
