There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

The turns of phrase in this are delightful, and it's easy to see why this quirky space adventure is a cult classic. It was a really fun palate cleanser, and a great mood lifter since the book is absurd good, contrasting the world's absurd bad. I'll definitely read more.

I was pretty sure rereading this classic would mess with my fond memories of the early '80s and how much I loved this book back then. Turns out, I couldn’t have been more wrong. I may not have the existential angst of my 20-year-old self anymore, but I’ve picked up a few things along the way. Things like perspective, experience, and a smarter sense of humor.

Funny enough, a lot of what I found humorous this time around probably went right over my head when I first read it. But even now, I still relate to Arthur Dent—just an average guy trying to make sense of the universe and all its ridiculousness.

Seems I needed a reminder: Don’t Panic, always know where your towel is, and keep searching for the question to the Ultimate Answer.
