Ya... si hice un poco de skimming acá también, pero es que me aburre mucho leer la cursilearia que viene después de que los protagonistas se declaran su amor. Todo se vuelve demasiado color de rosa, todo muy soft y bonito y blah blah blah

My favorite of the series so far, and I’m not surprised because…Cletus haha. Will definitely keep reading the rest of the series!

Took me a little while to get into this novel. I wavered on putting it aside about 10% in but I held on and it turned into an enjoyable read. The storyline is simple, Cletus is more complex although I found his personality was a strange mesh for Jennifer but I suppose opposites attract. Some of the typical arguments were really simple and felt a bit too forced. It's a simple, run-of-the-mill romance novel. Good for if you're transitioning between some heavier novels.

The third book in the Winston brother's series stars Cletus Winston, the oddball brother. Perhaps because I've always identified with oddballs myself, but this has been my favorite read in the Winston Brothers series so far. I love Cletus and his strange proclivities and even more so I love Jennifer. She's a character that has appeared in several of the other books, but she was such a surface level character before. I really appreciated that Reid really dug into her and brought her story to life in such an unexpected but wonderful way.

It's a great read for fans of the Winston Brothers and builds well into the ongoing narrative of the series. However, for those that do not enjoy stories about abuse, this might not be a story for you. Without giving too much away, this book does feature emotional abuse of one of the main characters and is uncomfortable at times to read about.

I always feel bad ranking a book low I did not finish, but I Really tried, and just couldn't keep going. Not for me.

Trigger warnings: blackmail, violence, emotional & psychological abuse, cheating, lying, manipulation

June 2023: Listen, there's just something about Cletus. This book is one of my absolute favorites of this series, mostly because of the uniqueness and quirkiness of his character. Re-reading the book did not diminish anything from the hilarity and entertainment that is this book. I'm also going to be honest: I read it twice, back to back, this second time. I couldn't help myself! I love this romance so much. It's weird, but sweet. It's messy, but honest and warm. There's no way for me to explain how much joy I find reading about Jenn and Cletus falling in love. She initially comes across as so naive and juvenile, but the more you read about her, the more she grows on you and the more she grows, period. It happens to us as the readers, but also it happens to Cletus as the reluctant helper in the beginning. His slow realization of how much he truly does love Jenn and how much he wants her is so cute but also funny, specially considering the type of person everyone knows him to be. I don't know what else to say, I just love this book. I would read it again right now haha.

DNF - I'm sorry but for some reason I just can't get into this story. Definitely a me thing rather than the story.
