5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! A mature love story that will amaze you.

Wow. Jennifer Theriot wrote a fantastic book. Ash Harper is a sexy, wealthy widower. Having a dark secret, a marriage filled with a controlling cold wife and then having to watch her die, leaves him worn out and deflated.

Olivia Peterson is pushed out of her home of 30 years due to her husband's job transfer. Leaving her grown children behind to move across the country, she is nervous and emotional. When she lands in Chicago to reunite with her husband, he isn't there, emotionally or physically. Ash Harper is. A long time friend of Olivia's husband.

Ash and Olivia find they have much in common and enjoy spending time together. What happens during the course of this love story is amazing.

This book contains it all; family values, rock stars, grown children with lives of their own, jealousy, wealth, heartbreak but mostly LOVE!

The characters in this book all stood out in their own way, the first thing is that the people in the love relationship are much older than what we normally read about. It’s amazing how within an affair came out love and made the family come closer to each other. I also enjoyed the huge gift of friendship that in the end become one big family. I received this book from eBook Discovery in exchange for an honest review

Olivia has the marriage of her dreams, there are times it has been tough sure, but she loves her husband and her children are a blessing she will always cherish. When her husband is reassigned from Houston to Chicago, she leaves everything behind to be the supportive wife she always has been.

Her new life is met with a new friendship and a betrayal she never expected. Finding out her husband has left her, Olivia begins a journey met with support and a new life she never expected.

Excellent read, I laughed, cried, and kept turning the page as Olivia finds herself again. I thought her ex was a jerk of all jerks, but Ash her new friend is a dream come true. Warmth fills this book and I thought the characters in this story were all identifiable to someone you might know. Wonderful read.

As modern technology and advances are increasing the average human life span, so to does the vigor of youth extend. While once forty was considered to be mid-life, these days 60 is the new 40. It is about time someone wrote romance for this generation that is romantic and sexy. What is the point of being a grown up with all the experience of having dealt with the obstacles life has thrown at you if you don’t get to enjoy life just a little bit?

Out of the Box Awakening is the story of Olivia. A 50-something empty-nester who is beginning to find her self again after thirty years of being just “Mom” or “Mrs.”. Her husband has been transferred to Chicago from Houston, requiring her to pack up her home and contemplate starting a new life in a new place. While she is apprehensive, she approaches the new adventure as catalyst to find herself and breathe fresh life into her increasingly stale marriage. However, before the movers have even delivered her things to the new city, she is faced with fact that her marriage is over and she is on her own. Luckily she has Ash, the man her husband had arranged for them to stay with while they looked for a new home and who now offers Olivia a safe haven while she moves forward to this new chapter in her life.

It is always fun to catch a glimpse of oneself in a book. Reading about places I know, movies I have seen or music I listen to is a little thrill making the characters more real and approachable. Like Olivia, I too have a music play list that is all over the place from classical to country to rap and something from everything in between. Most people I know think that is nuts, but that is how I listen to music and I immediately connected with Olivia and her play list. I am also blessed to be married to a musician and have a son who is following in his footsteps. It didn’t take me long to take to Ash and Tommy as well. Ms. Theriot has done a terrific job of capturing the voice and characterization of this whole extended family. Each person adds something distinct to the whole, making the fabric of the story a little more vibrant. Family, those you are born to and those you find along the way, is the foundation of this story and though the romance is deliciously steamy and sweet, that is what I take from this book.

I am not certain how Olivia ever managed to have a life with her cardboard cutout drip of an ex- husband, or managed to raise such fantastic kids, a common theme for many women her age, I am sure. I am also certain the best thing he ever did for them was to move aside and let them look for happiness in another place. It was a pleasure to be a part of Olivia’s journey to find herself. It is great to believe that love can be found at any age.

This is the first book in Olivia’s story. She thought life was over for her when her husband left but little did she know that fate might have something to say about it. She meets a man, Ash, who has everything including secrets. These two have great chemistry and are really great together. They are relatable and bring the story to life. A must read.

Out of the Box Awakening is the first book in the Out of the Box Series by Jennifer Theriot. It is an emotionally charged women’s literature/contemporary romance with an older, more seasoned main characters. It isn’t what you would normally expect from a romance, as Ms. Theriot takes us one a deeper, more realistic and emotional journey. This is a second chance romance, with new beginnings, finding oneself/self-discovery, learning and growing, and much more.
We meet Olivia Petersen who has her ‘perfect’ world turned upside down by her husband’s betrayal, leaving her out of her depth, confused, and away from her comfort zone.
Ash Harper is Liv’s husbands’ former army buddy, who has experienced much pain himself. He has baggage and secrets- but they share a connection that neither can deny.
Fate throws they together, and there will be choices to be made… so will they find comfort and happiness in each other? Is he her Mr. Right- Or just Mr Right Now?
You really should read the story/series and discover all the emotional details for yourself!
An enjoyable story, even though it was a little cheesy and predictable in place, the emotional content helped to balance the story.

Thank you, Ms. Theriot!

Out of The Box Awakening (Out of the Box Book 1): A Second Chance Romance Series by Jennifer Theriot

5 +++++++ Stars

HOLY MOLY!! I so completely and sincerely utterly LOVED this book. I actually can't believe I am able to not move on to the second one so that I can write this review. It's already a given how much I love this author but she has taken it to a whole new level with this story.

I cried so hard when I read the last sentence..I could feel everything going on at that club, I could picture all of the kids, I could picture Ash and the love that was pouring out of him and I could almost feel the feelings that Olivia was feeling at that point.

The bonds that were written about in this story were beyond amazing and each character is a favorite for one reason or another, well, except maybe one and that one worries me just a bit so I'm bracing for that but have complete trust that Miss Theriot will handle whatever happens and comes up in the future of this series.

Saying that I am completely invested in this story is an understatement and I can not wait to begin Regifted.

I am so so happy I picked up this series, I'm not getting a whole lot done when it comes to being a real life adult but oh well, it will all be there waiting on me when I finish.

Thank you Miss Theriot for giving me a character that I can relate to!

Amazingly Awesome!!
