I have mixed feelings about The Sleepover. I’d give it a 3.5, rounded up to 4, since it was gripping and entertaining.
However, some things were made so obvious that it was clear that something else was up; e.g.:. Even the big plot twist at the end became more and more obvious, .

the way Liam’s PoV intercalated with Bill’s PoV. This ruse was to convince the reader that Liam was Bill? So the reveal has more impact? Or does the author think us smarter than that? And it was made so obvious so that we could suspect that Liam had another connection to the Hixton Five? I had to employ a fair amount of suspension of disbelief, though, as Liam’s movements were always overlapping with other suspicious activities. What a coincidence…Spoiler
as Rosie starts acting even more strangely after Hannah’s attack. I think her actions should have had a little more depth, as her reveal was mainly used for shock valuebookishbrighton's review

Really, really enjoyed this - it kept me hooked, guessing and speculating throughout. Don’t want to give any spoilers so I’ll just say the ending wasn’t at ALL what I expected and I loved it, which is refreshing! Only lost a star because some of the middle dragged a bit for me and one part of it made me feel so uncomfortable so unexpectedly that it threw me off (you’ll know when you’ve read it!)

This thriller was extremely dark. Some of the content (see content warnings) to highlight how heinous a character was just seemed unnecessary to the plot. It almost felt like a device to shock the audience.
