if imma be honest … this book put me in a HUGE slump (as u can probably see from the timestamps) but as i tried to read it the story was still sooo good. idk why it put me in a slump tbh but i did love the story, the characters, and THE ENDINGGGG OMG. i can’t wait for the third book!!

it really bugs me because this series has the potential to be perfect. it has this incredible concept and great world building etc. and if you’re into a heavy plot-driven book then maybe you do think it’s incredible, but the characters are so… boring? i’ve read the two books and a genuinely can’t tell the difference between callum and tristan. you don’t really care about the characters because you don’t know them other than “this is parisa from paris” “she can read minds” “she has a sad past” etc.

the writing itself is also weird because it goes between being really incredible (i have some quotes somewhere but it’s 1am and i need to sleep) and then goes back to really easily readable stuff - not that there’s anything wrong with that but just…. pick a side.

despite this, it’s still really fun to read and it has that academia vibe to it (which i appreciate).

final note: love reina - can’t wait to see what divine wrath she pulls out in book three.

Unfortunately, I liked this book less than the first one, but it still wasn't terrible. I felt this book suffered a bit from middle book syndrome; it took too long for anything to happen really. The most interesting part for most of the book was Libby's chapters which weren't that frequent. I'd still say that the conflict in the books is a bit confusing; I'm intrigued to see how this series will wrap up in the final installment. Overall, I just wished more had happened in this book, but I suppose Blake is just setting up the conclusion.
