Strong art and pacing, if grim.

Interesting. Different. As graphic novels go, the art style and story weren't really my cup of tea. But it was really interesting.

Lovely lil plot twist there. Enjoyed the additional pages in different styles.

I thought this was a wonderful graphic novel. Even though it was
simple imagery, I loved the illustration. I thought this was such an original concept as well and
still had a plot twist and plenty of emotion. Definitely liked this one.

It’s was okay

The art style was cute. And the main characters were close but I didn’t see anything else that was outstanding
fast-paced

This book is a case study in how to make an empathetic character that still does really bad things. April / May, a member of an organized crime ring, creates a scheme to try and escape the ring, while bringing her son Eugene along with the ride. Relating to April / May has definitely been a weird experience, but one that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I USE STORYGRAPH LIKE A READING JOURNAL SO THIS REVIEW MAY HAVE SPOILERS OR BE VERY UNPOLISHED. Read at your own risk ✨

It’s sweet it’s charming. It’s surprisingly violent. And dark and real. Eugene is an excellent child thief who pulls his weight. It’s great to see.
