This was such a great book! Such a cozy winter read, perfect for fall as well! I loved how Milo grew as the story went on, the unexpected twist at the end, and the entire atmosphere of this story.

The deaths in the story are historical, not to do with the main characters. They aren’t described in horrible detail or very graphic. The gun violence scene doesn’t have any blood. It’s at the very end of the book and mostly has to do with the threat of violence rather than actual violence—it’s suspenseful but it’s kind of like the end of a good murder mystery when things get tense for a chapter or two and then are quickly resolved. If your child can handle the ending of Tangled, they should be able to handle this. Also, there are ghosts in this story—not at all scary but at one point they do use scare tactics to protect the main characters. Overall though, I would say this read is very light, relaxing, and shows Milo getting more and more courageous and facing hard situations with creativity and bravery. I think it’s a great story but did want to mention those things if your child is sensitive to such content.

This was such an excellent read!! It was a bit slow for the first 75 pages, but then it I couldn't put it down!! The characters were well thought out and developed. The mystery was intriguing. I guessed some of the mysteries but not all of them, which was exciting!!

Milo just wanted a quiet Christmas with his mom and dad. So, he was understandably upset the first time the bell rang to mark the arrival of a guest. And he was more so when the other guests arrived one by one. But what once was an unpleasant interruption of his Christmas vacation because something more, because each guest was hiding a secret... A secret that Milo and his newfound partner Meddy were going to discover.

This is the second time I've read this book. I was a lot younger the first time, but I still enjoyed this very much. Greenglass House is a book I will return to over and over again. The target audience is a bit younger, but this book has everything! A wonderful fictional town, an inn on a hill, an interesting main character, an adventure, and a mystery. As one review put it, "'Highly recommended to anyone who loves stories about stories, kid detectives, or role-playing games.' - GeekDad.com"

This was really a delight. It’s a perfect light read for Christmastime, and the illustrations were lovely (especially that cover—wow!). The book reminded me a lot of the middle grade mysteries I loved as a kid, like “Chasing Vermeer” and “Shakespeare’s Secret,” along with the aspect of sneaky children trying to figure out the adults’ secrets of “A Series of Unfortunate Events.” Just when I thought it was starting to drag a little, I got hit with the twist, which I didn’t see coming at all. I’m interested in reading the rest of the books in this series, and not just because I worked with the author at a bookstore for a bit!

I really enjoyed this and found it to be the perfect atmospheric read for this time of year. 

This book follows our main protagonist, Milo, who is home for the holidays and getting ready to settle in for a quiet time with his family only to have several guests show up at their house (it's an inn) and chaos as well as a variety of mysterious circumstances ensue. 

I enjoyed this a lot, even if it wasn't fully what I expected. Apparently this sub series is part of a larger world and I had no idea, but I definitely felt like it could stand alone. 

I absolutely loved the atmosphere of this book. It's a perfectly good cozy mystery around Christmas with lots of snow and crazy happenings and it was really fun to read about. 

The place where this book really shines though is with the relationships. I really enjoyed Milo and his interactions with pretty much everyone, Meddy and his parents were particular highlights, but also several of the guests too. I also really enjoyed the themes this book explores, particularly adoption and various different topics related to that. It was really well handled and well explored. Along with all of that, the storytelling elements were absolutely lovely too. 

The game aspects of the book were also interesting and if you're at all a fan of mysteries, D&D or RPGs in any form, I think you could really enjoy this too. 

Overall, I really enjoyed this and I'll be curious to see what the rest of the series/world has to offer.
