A Ruin of Roses

Let's start off with the description of this book...a dark retelling of Beauty and the Beast? Yes please! As this book begins, you can definitely see the parallels between on of our favorite Disney stories and this story by K. F. Breene. However, at the same time it is equally different and unique, which pulls the reader in and transports you to a world you find yourself easily lost in. The MF character, Finley, is a force to be reckoned with and the author does an amazing job developing her. Finley's inner monologue is hilarious and relatable. Many characters in this book had me actually laughing out loud while reading. Do realize, however, that this is a DARK retelling, and she was not kidding when she said that. Knowing that going in, if you love dark romances, you will absolutely fall in love with this book and series. It is one that I will re-read over and over again.

The way I feel like this book is the most unserious serious book ever written. I love the omegaverse aspect of it though (not overly omegaverse just some elements that I won't go into detail with because I don't want to spoil the book for anyone). I love the main case and (a long with my book club friends) trying to figure out who is who lol.

I will say- the title is not a lie, it is deliciously dark.

Also we love a smart FMC with grit and tenacity. She's well written and even though stubborn- which can be annoying in most FMC 's she isn't and I actually enjoyed her and her inner monologue.

Book one of the series.

This gets you really acquainted with the characters, revealing their soft sides and vulnerabilities as the relation between Nyfain and Finley grows.

Learning about the curse that had been placed on the kingdom and all that had happened to the people once the curse took place.

Watching Finley and Nyfain slowly get closer until they finally let their urges take over !
adventurous dark emotional medium-paced

anted to like this one so much more than I did. This was kind of a dang it….

I love that authors have so much more ability to shelf publish today than they did years ago but please for the love of god have people proof read your stuff. Ugh. It wasn’t full of typos of anything but sentences with missing words, like one random word (hand) just not there… mini paragraphs that you have to read a couple of times just to try and make sense of what you think it’s trying to say.

Yes it’s a romantasy with lots of spice and kinks and blah blah blah, but there were times that it felt like the author was going for shock value over quality. This is also the first time I honestly wondered how much of this book was written with AI. I hope I’m wrong, someone please tell me if I am.

The story had its moments. It could be good. There are more books ugh I’m going to read something else then come back and see how I feel about book two.

This is the fantasy story I didn't know I needed. Such a fun and sexy retelling of Beauty and The Beast.
18+ for sure! Not for the faint of heart.
Needless to say, I am excited to see where this goes...

It’s as though a teenager who just discovered swearing and pornhub decided to write a beauty and the beast retelling full of furry orgies and one annoying as hell “I’m not like the other girls” protagonist.

This is literally so close to five stars for me. This was a super smutty romantasy with a layer of depth I didn’t expect. It hooked me almost immediately, and kept me trapped until the very end. The only complaint I have, and the reason why I didn’t give it five stars, was the writing. There were some things that kind of threw me off a little bit but not enough to ruin my reading experience. I’m super excited to continue the series. 4.5 stars

This is the most vanilla ass 'dark' book I've ever read, and the supposed comic relief is fucking terrible. I'm not gonna wade through more of that shit to see if it actually gets dark like it's supposed to, or if it's just a regular ass modern-sounding fantasy novel.
