What in the fresh hell was this nonsense? I was drawn in by a dark and sexy beauty and beast retelling that I was sold but this was - not that. The world building was bonkers, the chemistry between the main characters felt teeth grindingly forced, and the immature dialogue was absolutely awful. It was such a confusing mix of a fantasy land with a village and castle mixed with contemporary concepts that were not blended well together.

If the main character said that’s all folks or fuck me folks one more time I would actually scream and throw this book at a window. This was not for me.

I read this series out of order (A Cage of Crimson, #5 & A Cage of Kingdoms, #6) but that did not affect this story. For me, it was seeing familiar characters again, and filling in their back story, which I did not mind at all.
The storyline was good, but I found myself cringing at the term “demon king,” but don’t let that put you off. Throughout, I was intrigued but didn’t think I’d want to pickup the book in the series, but the ending had me wanting to know what happened next!

I didn’t particularly enjoy it I thought it was a bit boring the plot didnt grasp me as much as I thought it was going to
