“Besides, sometimes it’s inevitable for the past to be forgotten, especially if the present is no less horrific;”
The tone of this book is so matter-of-fact, I found it so paralysing and unnerving. I will forever be distressed that we witnessed this, on our phones, no less.

A week ago, I was in London for the first time ever. I brought a book with me from Paris, which I finished on my first day there.
I decided to buy another book to read while enjoying London’s parks (I really liked Regent's Park, by the way).
So, I went to a bookshop near Trafalgar Square. While browsing, I found "Minor Detail." After reading two pages, I decided to buy it for 10 pounds.
Adania Shibli did a great job with this book. She vividly depicted human cruelty through the experiences of two women under Zionist occupation. One was raped and killed by an officer and his soldiers. The other, through a pure coincidence, tried to learn more about that incident and was killed by Zionist soldiers while doing so.
Two women and a bunch of colonialist soldiers were enough to show the cruelty of the occupation of Palestine, beyond history books and complicated academic research.
Through her book, Adania shows that to understand human cruelty, we should focus on the history of the most vulnerable and to restore a legitimate regime, people should fight against those who oppress the most vulnerable.
And last but not least, Free Palestine from the river to the sea!

This is horrifying, bleak, and unfortunately too real. I feel sick knowing just how long this has been going and on and how much worse it has gotten even just in the few years since this book was published. Will Palestine ever see justice?
